July is the month for AAU Tournaments and high school team camps and tournaments. This is a great time for players to show their potential to college coaches, to their high school coach, and to themselves. It is also a great time for bonding with teammates and opponents from different programs.

While scoring points often seems to be the way to attract attention, a smart player knows that summer is the best time to work on the intangibles of the game of basketball. Hustle, defense, rebounding, assists, shot selection, teamwork, attitude are attributes coaches look for when evaluating players. Remember, if someone is evaluating you, they watch your every move; Not just your stats in the scoring column.
