Fast Break Coaches Clinic

April 19, 2008 at Mesa Verde High School in Citrus Heights, CA was the site of the Fast Break Clinic for coaches in the Northern and Central California area. Coach Battenberg and his former players demonstrated the drills and skills used in his successful fast break system. Ninety-seven (97) coaches attended and learned all about the Primary Break, Secondary Break, Early Offense, and how to fast break against the Full Court Press.

If you would like to host a Fast Break Clinic in your area or at your facility, contact Coach Battenberg and set it up. Clinics can be for your staff, area staff, players, or any group interested in the latest fast breaking techniques.

                                  Battenberg and the Fast Break

Coach Battenberg has long been known for his high-scoring, fast breaking teams. He originally studied the speed game under Hall of Fame Coach Ralph Miller at Oregon State University in the early 1970's. Later he became interested in the running game of UNLV Coach Jerry Tarkanian in the 1980-90's before finally adopting Coach Roy Williams Primary and Secondary Breaks during the last 10 years.

Battenberg spent several years studying under Carolina Assistant Jerod Haase and the Roy Williams staff at both Kansas and North Carolina, learning the finer points of teaching and running this high powered attack. He is available to share his knowledge at conferences or clinics for coaches upon request.

Coach Battenberg's past teams still hold the scoring records at all high schools he has coached - Jesuit - El Dorado - Ponderosa - Union Mine.
